After a horrifying public rejection by her crush, Ellie Nichols does what any girl would do: she flees the country. To be more precise, she joins her high school’s study abroad trip to England. While most of her classmates are there to take honors courses and pad their college applications, Ellie is on a quest to rebuild her reputation and self-confidence. And nothing is more of a confidence booster than getting a hot British boyfriend.
When Ellie meets Will, a gorgeous and charming Brit, she vows to avoid making the same mistakes as she did with the last guy she liked. Which is why she strikes up a bargain with Dev, an overachieving classmate who she’s never clicked with, but who does seem to know a lot about the things Will is interested in—if he helps her win over her crush, then she’ll help him win over his.
But even as Ellie embarks on a whirlwind romance, one that takes her on adventures to some of England’s most beautiful places, she still needs to figure out if this is actually the answer to all her problems…and whether the perfect boyfriend is actually the perfect boy for her.
That was actually…cute?!?!
But Will here was nowhere near as perfect as Will Herondale. swoooon
im weird, i know
But wow, I wasn’t actually expecting to like HBB. After being warned, I went into this with very low expectations, so maybe that’s why I ended up really liking it? ahaha who knows.

After being publicly humiliated due to a * ahem * misunderstanding at a high school party, Ellie wants nothing more than to disappear.
And what better way to do that then to run away to England? I mean, I’d totally do the same.
But really, there was just another spot open to study abroad, and so Ellie took that chance. There, she meets with three others from her school, and our charming hot British mate, Will. Of course, she automatically has a huge
obsession crush on him. And the other way around.
Ahhh ✨insta-love✨. Or is it really? I guess obsessing over him isn’t the same as love.
Anyways, from the blurb alone it sounded like any typical contemporary romance novel but oh how more complicated and amazing it was.
I admit, I wasn’t really a huge fan of Ellie — like she was pretty cool, and her hobbies were really cute bUT HER OBSESSION WITH BOYS–
Now she’s what you call boy-crazy. But Ellie did (kinda?) tone it down on the boys. Definitely a difference when you compare her from the beginning and the end. Still, there were so many moments that made me cringe ahaha and secondhand embarrassment asdsadfs poor Ellie.
And ohmygod her friends were adorkable. (they were a very diverse cast too😏) One played Quidditch, one could beat-box, and the other was such a nerd — I loved it. They’re such dorks, and that’s what makes them so lovable.
I could not get enough of the places they visited in Europe. sdfdsfds I’ve always wanted to travel to England. The accents especially omg it’s amazing. All the places to visit ughh my school should really have a study abroad in England smh I’m going to petition for one.
The ending was very satisfying as well. Loved the way the author handled it.
All in all, if you’re looking for super cute read, looking for some diversity, and can handle the MC’s obsession with ~de boys~ I think you’ll enjoy this too!!
I still want a hot British boyfriend tho-
Buddy read with the amazing Alex @ The Scribe Owl. Loved buddy reading with you! ❤
