It’s been weeks since I finished reading HoF and I’ve been trying to write a review for it but I just couldn’t. I struggled. And I kept wondering why? Why was it so hard for me to write a review for this?
It was heartbreaking, yes, but The Burning God was even more heartbreaking and we don’t talk about that yet I was able to write a review for that. HoF wasn’t a terrible book either, so it shouldn’t have been difficult for me to write down my thoughts.
But then I realized why… it was really simple honestly.
I didn’t know what to say.
Heir of Fire was beautiful. So beautiful that deep down I knew that no matter what I said, it wouldn’t be enough to show my love for this book.
This is a journey of grief. Of pain, love, friendship, and finding your way back up to the surface after being buried deep inside a bottomless pit.
Celaena has been through a lot and it hurts knowing that this is only just the beginning of more pain and suffering. But no matter what, as long as there’s light in this world of darkness, there is hope.
═══.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.═══
“She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one.”
Death has once again made an appearance in Celaena’s life. After a shocking turn of events, Celaena has left Adarlan and journeyed to Wendlyn on a mission to uncover truths that have been hidden for too long. Secrets will be revealed, new forces will awaken, and… Celaena will have to face her past.
Fireheart—why do you cry?
“Because I am lost,” she whispered onto the earth. “And I do not know the way.”
The amount of times I wanted to cry watching Celaena struggle with her grief and trauma. It was heartbreaking as always. She was filled with so much regret and guilt, going as far as saying that she didn’t deserve to live–my heart * sobs * But in the face of all of this, even when she wanted to give up–there was always something stopping her. Or more like a certain someone among other things👀
And of course, there were new characters who played a role in her healing.
“I claim you, Aelin. To whatever end.”
Rowan Whitethorn–I can see why a lot may have hated this book and him so much. I despised Rowan. The way he treated Celaena in the beginning was absolutely despicable and the things he said….* rage *
But that’s what makes the development between the two so amazing. They went from “i-want-to-murder-you-and-make-you-wish-you-were-never-born” to “i-want-to-murder-you-with-love-and-annoy-the-hell-out-of-you.” Isn’t that such amazing development?? Ah, but of course it’s platonic love.
Woah, wait. I just realized that this is the first (and probably only) SJM book that didn’t have the female main character with a love interest??? ohmygod I am shook. ofc that’ll change in the next book but sdfsdsdfs
Anyways, I don’t really love Rowan. I like him, but not love. Maybe that will change when I re-read Queen of Shadows though. The scene at the end was definitely so sweet.🥺
“You do not have the right to wish she were not what she is. The only thing you have a right to do is decide whether you are her enemy or her friend.”
Dorian calling out Chaol was probably one of the best scenes when it came to their povs. I didn’t really enjoy Dorian or Chaol’s povs. I mean, I also didn’t enjoy Manon’s pov either ahaha although that’s no surprise (hence the 0.5 star being taken off). I was really only looking forward to Celaena’s chapters. thats no surprise either
Dorian’s a cinnamon roll and cinnamon rolls do not deserve to suffer * sobs *
Chaol was… Chaol. Struggling with all the change that’s happening and to say he doesn’t like this change is an understatement.
Sorscha was just there. Like I admire her and the way she was there for Dorian–because of that, I like her.
Manon was boring. I skimmed some of her chapters in the beginning because honestly I could care less. Although, I did actually like her chapters more towards the end.
Aedion’s loyalty to his queen is amazing. All this time thinking she was dead to find out she’s not and that ending-
It’s always the last few pages when everything goes to hell🙂
“She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid.”
Seventeen-year-old Reyna has spent most of her life at her family’s gorgeous seaside resort in Tobago, the Plumeria. But what once seemed like paradise is starting to feel more like purgatory. It’s been two years since Reyna’s mother passed away, two years since Aiden – her childhood best friend, first kiss, first love, first everything – left the island to pursue his music dreams. Reyna’s friends are all planning their futures and heading abroad. Even Daddy seems to want to move on, leaving her to try to keep the Plumeria running.
And that’s when Aiden comes roaring back into her life – as a VIP guest at the resort.
Aiden is now one-third of DJ Bacchanal – the latest, hottest music group on the scene. While Reyna has stayed exactly where he left her, Aiden has returned to Tobago with his Grammy-nominated band and two gorgeous LA socialites. And he may (or may not be) dating one of them…
Inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion, Where the Rhythm Takes You is a romantic, mesmerizing novel of first love and second chances.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
I’m having really bad luck lately disliking the mcs and love interests in contemporaries
But overall, it was a solid story with a really great message—to do what you want and not what other want/expect of you. Live your own life, not the life of others. Do what make you happy or you might regret it for the rest of your life.
“It had my heart, even when my dreams were somewhere else.”
Since she was a kid, all Reyna has known is life at the family hotel and she plans to continue working there for the rest of her life after the unfortunate death of her mother. Reyna feels as if there’s no other option for her except to run the hotel and tells herself she’s okay with it… until one day, the arrival of Aiden, her first love—now a famous singer—changes everything Reyna once thought and believed in.
Coming into this, it’s clear that an incident occurred between Aiden and Reyna in the past, and the mystery surrounding what happened two years ago had me really curious. Those chapters that were set in the past really gave more info on their relationship and how it grew between the two until it all fell apart. I actually found those chapters much more interesting than the present ones.
Reyna annoyed me a lot throughout the novel with the way she acted, especially in the beginning of the book, but overtime I grew to understand her more and the actions she took. However, it still wasn’t enough for me to like her unfortunately.
Now the romance was… not my favourite. So the glimpses in the past about Reyna and Aiden were nice in showing how their bond developed and all but I feel like it wasn’t really enough?? Like in the present chapters, the relationship between Reyna and Aiden was so lackluster and bland. They barely interacted with each other throughout the novel and when they did it was so awkward due to their past. I just really couldn’t love, better yet like, the romance between the two since it felt like nothing to me.
It felt so lacking and plain. Yeah, they were childhood best friends who fell in love with each other until an incident in which they finally see each other again two years later but I mean?? Where’s the angst and tension?? idk everything just felt dull to me. I just can’t enjoy the romance when it didn’t even feel real at all.
I’d honestly say Fish yes, you read that right and Reyna had more chemistry then Reyna and Aiden. At least they actually had noteworthy interactions and some actual spark between the two with the flirty and funny scenes. Aiden was just that one guy who was brooding in the background until all of a sudden everything magically changes and he starts acting nicer to Reyna— umm yeah…
I do like how this was set in the Caribbean. Too often do novels take place in North America specifically the US so this was a nice change in scenery. It did take a little while getting used to some of the dialect used in the book, but it was definitely interesting.
Overall, this had a pretty nice take on second chances and doing what you feel passionate about. The romance could’ve been much better in my opinion and the story dragged on a lot, which had me pushing myself to get through it. Props for being a pretty quick read though!
Eternally thankful to Harper Collins Canada for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We’re just going to ignore that this ARC review is totally not late or anything and that it came out almost a month ago whoops
Frankly in Lovemeets Shark Tank in this feel-good romantic comedy about two entrepreneurial Korean American teens who butt heads—and maybe fall in love—while running competing Korean beauty businesses at their high school.
There’s nothing Valerie Kwon loves more than making a good sale. Together with her cousin Charlie, they run V&C K-BEAUTY, their school’s most successful student-run enterprise. With each sale, Valerie gets closer to taking her beloved and adventurous halmeoni to her dream city, Paris.
Enter the new kid in class, Wes Jung, who is determined to pursue music after graduation despite his parents’ major disapproval. When his classmates clamor to buy the K-pop branded beauty products his mom gave him to “make new friends,” he sees an opportunity—one that may be the key to help him pay for the music school tuition he knows his parents won’t cover…
What he doesn’t realize, though, is that he is now V&C K-BEAUTY’s biggest competitor.
Stakes are high as Valerie and Wes try to outsell each other, make the most money, and take the throne for the best business in school—all while trying to resist the undeniable spark that’s crackling between them. From hiring spies to all-or-nothing bets, the competition is much more than either of them bargained for.
But one thing is clear: only one Korean business can come out on top.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
While I didn’t love Made in Korea, I didn’t hate it either👀 Filled with an enemies-to-lovers romance altho its really more of Val considering Wes the enemy only, spies, sabotages, and heartwarming scenes, this was a pretty great debut. And it featured Korean-American main characters, which I’ve never seen in a book before, so that was fun!
“There isn’t always a price tag or a black-and-white answer for why people do what they do.”
For years, Val has been in charge of her very popular and successful K-pop beauty business with her cousin Charlie. She has her goal in mind and nobody will get in her way being the only K-pop beauty business at her school. All is going well… until new student Wes comes in and starts up his own K-pop beauty business.
Of course Val doesn’t take this well and soon they both make a bet—whoever makes the most money by the end of the school year gets to take all of the loser’s money. It’s an all or nothing…and thus, the competition begins.
Val annoyed me a lot in the beginning. The audacity of this girl. She acted like it was a personal offence that Wes started his own business—like no, he can have his own reasons to start a business too?? The way she treated him too-😶 uhh yeah, I definitely didn’t like her, and though Val did learn/get better towards the end, it didn’t change my feelings towards her.
Now Wes is just so sweet. He’s too nice honestly, like I really don’t understand how he liked Val but okay ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Wes deserved better, imo.
Also, his passion for music-🥺🥺 and the way he was trying to save up money for the fees required to go to music school because he knew his parents wouldn’t pay for him omg it was so sad 😦 Wes had a better reason for his business than Val did ngl.
Part of me probably wouldve enjoyed this book more if it weren’t for how much Val annoyed me, but also if I wasn’t bored. There were a lot of scenes that just dragged on for me, where I’d just be counting down the number of pages I had left until I finished so I could be free. Still, I wasn’t bored to the point that I hated it at least.
All in all, this was a all right debut by the author and I can see lots of potential for her future books! There were lots of K-pop references that I think K-pop fans would appreciate and love. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick read with characters who will do anything to beat the other~
~Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!! <33
Bonjour! I’m here today to convince you all to read this masterpiece. Yes, it’s a thousand pages, but I promise you that it goes by so fast (at least for me). I’m not joking when I say that this book has easily beat it to my top 5 all time favourite books at least until i read the rest of the series. Sanderson is a genius, but I never imagined just how much of a genius he is??? Anyways PLEASE ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY. I’M BEGGING YOU.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings, book one of The Stormlight Archive begins an incredible new saga of epic proportion.
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter.
It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor that transform ordinary men into near-invincible warriors. Men trade kingdoms for Shardblades. Wars were fought for them, and won by them.
One such war rages on a ruined landscape called the Shattered Plains. There, Kaladin, who traded his medical apprenticeship for a spear to protect his little brother, has been reduced to slavery. In a war that makes no sense, where ten armies fight separately against a single foe, he struggles to save his men and to fathom the leaders who consider them expendable.
Brightlord Dalinar Kholin commands one of those other armies. Like his brother, the late king, he is fascinated by an ancient text called The Way of Kings. Troubled by over-powering visions of ancient times and the Knights Radiant, he has begun to doubt his own sanity.
Across the ocean, an untried young woman named Shallan seeks to train under an eminent scholar and notorious heretic, Dalinar’s niece, Jasnah. Though she genuinely loves learning, Shallan’s motives are less than pure. As she plans a daring theft, her research for Jasnah hints at secrets of the Knights Radiant and the true cause of the war.
The result of over ten years of planning, writing, and world-building, The Way of Kings is but the opening movement of the Stormlight Archive, a bold masterpiece in the making.
Speak again the ancient oaths:
Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before Destination.
and return to men the Shards they once bore.
The Knights Radiant must stand again.

Sanderson is a monster.
How does one write a masterpiece such as this?? How does one create such complex and beautiful characters, worldbuilding, and plot??? How does one write a 1000 page novel and make it feel like a short book?? How does one continue to destroy my heart but also fill it with love???
10 years in the making and I can no doubt see how much of his sweat, blood, and tears were poured into this book. I’m in awe. And if this was published in 2010, I can only imagine how epic the next 3 books already out will be??

“The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.”
Thousands of years ago, the Knights Radiant, an order of magic users meant to protect the people of Roshar from dark forces, betrayed mankind by abandoning them, nobody knowing where they’ve disappeared. However, they also left powerful weapons behind called Shardblades with its companion, Shardplates, a suit of armor to complete the set. Kingdoms go to war over these magical items and to own this is to be a Shardbearer, warriors having the strength of several men.
Ever since the assassination of the King Gavilar Kholin six years ago, the kingdom of Alethkar has been at war with the Parshendi who are said to have murdered the king. Dalinar and Adolin Kholin fight in this war of vengeance, while across the land, Shallan fights her way to become the ward of a well known heretic and scholar who has what she needs. And then there’s a man who’s lost all hope, a man who fights for survival even during times of despair…Kaladin Stormblessed.
“Somebody has to start. Somebody has to step forward and do what is right, because it is right.”
Kaladin is such a tortured character in the beginning, I just wanted to go and hug him. Protect him from the world. Kaladin doesn’t deserve all that’s happened to him sobs Branded as a slave and sent off to be a bridgeman — the most dangerous role in war, having to carry (along with other men) large, mobile bridges to set across the chasms in the Shattered Plains for soldiers to cross. Meanwhile, you don’t have any protection from the enemy who lie across the chasms with their arrows💀 It’s basically a death sentence for any man.
The mental health rep is done so, so well. I love it so much, like the way I was about to cry at so many scenes?? it might just be me being emotional Kaladin struggled so much with all that he’s lost and all who he’s failed, that it just felt easier to give up rather than deal with the pain of losing any more people he loved/cared for. Syl is literally perfect. She was there for Kaladin during his darkest moments and the bond between them was so beautiful.🥺 Kaladin fighting against depression and being the light for the other bridgemen… never in a million years did I think I was going to fall in love with the men in Bridge Four. Kaladin was their hope. Their hope for survival. Their hope for a future.
I’m just going to say this right now—IF SANDERSON DECIDES TO PULL SOMETHING LIKE KILLING THE WHOLE CREW EXCEPT FOR KALADIN, MY HEART WILL DIE AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU, SANDERSON.
I really don’t think I’ll be able to take that pain, but I know that Sanderson is the king of destroying his readers’ poor souls, so I’m just going to be prepared and still die
I made a mistake growing attached to these lovable idiots, more specifically Teft, Rock, Lopen, Skar, and Moash (especially this guy, i didnt think it was possible). I love these guys so much and now I live in constant fear that they’ll be killed-
Also just the bantering between them all ohmygod they were too good. So many favourite scenes bahaha
“I don’t know,” Teft grumbled. “But I’ve never liked them. They seem to be able to talk to each other, without making any sounds. I don’t like the way they look.”
“Teft,” Kaladin said flatly, “if we rejected bridgemen based on their looks, we’d have kicked you out weeks ago for that face of yours.”
Teft just got destroyed.

“Sometimes the prize is not worth the costs. The means by which we achieve victory are as important as the victory itself.”
Dalinar Kholin aka the Blackthorn, brother of the previous King Gavilar and now uncle of the current King Elhokar, is long past his glorious days, at least in the eyes of others. Visions have begun to consume his mind during highstorms and now Dalinar has beun questioning his own sanity. Are these visions real? Who is sending these visions to him? Are they to be trusted? Or has Dalinar just lost his mind?
Dalinar’s bluntness and genuineness makes him one of the only honourable lighteyes. In this land, power is divided by lighteyes and darkeyes—the people with light eye colours are the ruling class with the most power, while the people with dark eye colours are beneath them. So of course, majority of the lighteyes are going to be jerks, but Dalinar is an exception.🥺 To him, honor is everything. And his love for his family is just so heartwarming.
────── {⋆❉⋆} ──────
“At times, it seems to me that to be human is to want that which we cannot have. For some, this is power. For me, it is peace.”
Adolin Kholin, son of Dalinar, is a cinnamon roll. He’s just as amazing as his father and he’s so sweet ohmygod I love his loyalty to his family. Adolin will literally challenge anyone who even I>thinks about insulting his father or brother and is very hot-headed warrior. I love that even being one of those who believes that his father may be going insane, Adolin still stands by his side🥺 There wasn’t enough Adolin in this book, so I’m ready to see more of him in WoR ❤
“I believe that my own morality—which answers only to my heart—is more sure and true than the morality of those who do right only because they fear retribution.”
Shallan Davar, daughter of her late father, has travelled to another land in order to become the ward of the famous Jasnah Kholin. However, Shallan’s true objective is to steal something and bring it back to her homeland in order to save her family from their enemies around them.
I’m so in love with Shallan’s stubbornness and wit. The way she’d just speak her mind and give off so many sarcastic comments was hilarious. And then afterwards she would be feeling embarrassed and it was just so adorable. Shallan’s an artist and I loved how there were pieces of her drawings throughout the book??? It was gorgeous omg. Also, after that ending, I’m so excited to see Shallan and her interactions with ~certain people~
“Better to exist in agony than to vanquish entirely.”
Szeth barely had any chapters, yet I found his povs amazing and heartbreaking. Imagine not having control of your own body and being forced to kill so many people??? The things he’s had to do… stormfather, it’s horrifying. AND THAT LAST CHAPTER OF HIS??? Oh god, I so wasn’t expecting that. extremely concerned
────── {⋆❉⋆} ──────
Just going to add this in because I must, but one of the best (& funniest) aspects of this world was that tradition said that women were required to cover their left hands. If a woman were to expose their left hand, it’d be considered ✨scandalous✨ and honestly every time that was mentioned I was wheezing. It’s hilarious seeing men blush if they saw that hand exposed omg I couldn’t stop laughing. Szeth himself even commented on how odd it is. LOL I LOVE THAT.
────── {⋆❉⋆} ──────
So as you can see, I came into this expecting to love this but little did I know how much this would capture my heart and soul. This is the type of book that you know you’ll love, but even then it still sneaks up on you and makes you fall hard. My only regret is that I started this series now and I know for a fact I won’t be able to stop myself from reading the next 3 books before the 5th comes out and then I’ll be having to wait until 2023 for it sobs but at the same time I don’t regret reading this right now?? I don’t know how that works smh.
For anyone who’s scared of how long this book is, believe me, I was terrified too BUT IT GOES BY SO FAST. The characters, plot, and world is just that good. This masterpiece must be read by more🥺
“None of it mattered. He would just keep living. They’d taken his freedom, his family, his friends, and— most dear of all— his dreams.
Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel. She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers. It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.
The enemy and the warrior…
Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire. But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.
A lover and heartmate…
But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.
And now she will become Queen…

That ending completely wrecked me.
I went from being punched in the guts to screaming to silently sobbing to cackling like an insane lunatic.
Oh how I can’t wait to see the chaos that’s coming and more dragons
The Crown of Gilded Bones was far from perfect yet I still wholeheartedly loved it. The expansion of the world and it’s creatures was just amazing. Surprisingly, me—who’s horrible at keeping up with too many new terms thrown in books, actually was able to follow through all that was going on and being said. That literally never happens. I seriously loved learning more about the world and seeing how this will connect with A Shadow in the Ember… ohmygod I’m so excited.
But even though I didn’t mind the info-dumps, I will say that it did… drag on. It was around the middle of the book where I lost some of my focus and took some breaks in between reading. So yes, some parts were pretty boring but honestly those scenes where Poppy, Cas, Kieran and the rest of the cast just had fun made up for those slow parts. Still, the pacing could’ve been a lot better.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
“Bravery is a fleeting beast, isn’t it? Always there to get you into trouble, but quick to disappear once you’re where you want to be.”
No matter how many times I say this it will never feel enough, but seriously—Poppy, Casteel, and Kieran—I love this trio so much. Their friendship with each other is so raw and beautiful. The teasing and bantering they have. The many arguments they had but held with so much love… it makes me feel alive.
“Friendship was a far stronger bond than even something the gods could create.”
The bond between Cas and Kieran, especially—ohmygod it’s amazing I swear can’t get over the loyalty and love they have for each other. And every time, they call each brother, omg my heart🥺🥺
And here, Poppy and Kieran’s friendship grows even more. I love it * sobs * THIS PLATONIC FRIENDSHIP IS SUPERIOR TO EVER OTHER RELATIONSHIP IN THIS BOOK. Yes, even Poppy and Cas (they come in really close behind tho). Although I love them with all my heart, Poppy and Kieran’s relationship was just way too heartwarming and hilarious. I will never get over the intriguing convos they’d have with each other too ahaha omg.
My chest warmed. “You know what?”
He raised a brow as he looked down at me. “What?”
I reached over and patted his chest. “You’re more than okay.”
“Now that I know you think I’m more than okay, I can sleep well at night.” His tone was as dry as the Wastelands, but I grinned.
okay but Kieran mentioning the Joining when Cas and Poppy called him to talk about being their advisor was hilarious. omg why was that the first thing he thought of being called for??? Kieran, you’re killing me😭😭 and then he made everything so awkward omg I couldn’t stop wheezing bahahaha
“You will bow before your Queen.” Casteel eyed the Atlantian coolly. “Or you will bleed before her. It is your choice.”
And so then there’s my Queen and King—Poppy Balfour Da’Neer and Casteel Hawkethorne Da’Neer. After all the lies, betrayals, and many changes their relationship has gone through, the truth is finally out and their love for each other is so beautiful.🥺
“I love you, Penellaphe. You. Your fierce heart, your intelligence and strength. I love your endless capacity for kindness. I love your acceptance of me. Your understanding. I’m in love with you, and I will be in love with you when I take my last breath and then beyond in the Vale.”
Cas telling Poppy for the first time that he loved her broke me. And then Poppy saying it to him and Cas thinking he isn’t worthy?!?! STOP, NO * sobbing *
And can I just say that the cheesiness was so sweet??? omg I literally lived for those stupid but cute lines Cas would say to her. So many scenes I was just grinning like an idiot and a certain scene, I seriously couldn’t stop laughing omg. But seriously, the amount of times I swooned because of the things Cas would say??? ohmygod I love them so much.
“I do not want to be party to forcing you into yet another role you did not ask for nor desire. I will not replace the veil you loathed with a crown you hate. If you do not want to take the Crown, I will support you,” he swore, and the intensity in his words captured me. The irrevocable oath he was making. “And if you decide you want to take what is yours, claim the throne, I will set this entire kingdom on fire and watch it burn if that ensures that the crown sits on your head.”
I jolted. “You love your people—”
“But I love you more.”
please, stop Cas😭🤚
Okay but the banter between the whole group of them—Poppy, Cas, Kieran, Emil, Delano, and Vonetta—on their journey to Ilisseum was just perfection. They’re all such idiots and I’m so in love with them all. That one scene where they’re battling the skeletons omg I can’t-
Vonetta shouted, unsheathing her swords. “Couldn’t you have said that you saw skeletons in the hole?”
Casteel cursed as another bony hand appeared, this one clutching a sword in its grip.
“Armed skeletons!” Vonetta yelled. “Couldn’t you have said you saw armed skeletons in the hole?”
“Sorry.” Emil unhooked his swords. “I was kind of taken aback by the sight of fully functional, fucking skeletons with weapons. My apologies.”
——
“Cutting off the head does not work,” Emil shouted, and I turned to see a headless skeleton tracking the dumbfounded Atlantian. “I repeat. It does not work!”
Vonetta whirled, thrusting one sword through the chest of a soldier, and her other blade through the headless skeleton. “You,” she said to Emil, “are a mess.”
“And you are beautiful,” he replied with a grin.
OMG I SHIP. I’m not the only one who ships Emil and Vonetta, right?? I love them so much omg😭
I will shrivel up and die if any of them are killed. which will probably happen bc JLA likes to play with our feelings🤡
Now, I need to start screaming about something else…
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
🛑MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW🛑
I swear the heart attack I got when I read the first 100 pages—
was JLA trying to destroy us so early on in the book???? Because it worked💀 a lot
Cas crying at the beginning of the book?!! Just no. Stop. I thought that was heartbreaking BUT THEN JLA GOES AHEAD AND HAS HIM BEGGING AT THE END TOO. AND BOTH TIMES FOR POPPY * sobbing * The first time because he was watching Poppy die and then the last time because he was again watching Poppy die–
what the hell omg Jennifer you’re a monster. I love you but I hate you. That’s nothing new though. Typical relationship between reader and author.🙂🔫
But omg Cas let himself be taken by the Queen coughIsbeth, knowing he’d be tortured again and I’m sorry, but I died.
Honestly though, it was pretty obvious something like that was going to happen. I had a feeling either Poppy or Cas would be captured, mostly Cas bUT ALL THOSE OTHER PLOT TWISTS??!! I did not see any of that coming????
Poppy’s father isn’t King Malec??? Poppy is a god??? Isbeth is Queen Ileana???? Ian’s death??? omg omg omg I can’t. I just knew that the cave cat would secretly be Poppy’s father but that was me thinking it was Malec, not Ires??? omg he was RIGHT THERE.
sdfsfsfs okay but that last scene was perfect, it’s the way I was literally cackling. POPPY BEHEADING KING JALARA AND SENDING HIS HEAD TO ISBETH BAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA revenge is so sweet :))) I wish I could see the Isbeth’s face.
Oh also I adore Casteel’s parents. Or well, maybe not so much anymore because of what they kept to themselves at the end but still, they’re awesome ahhhh their acceptance of Poppy omg and Valyn’s words to Poppy were so sweet🥺🥺
“My son is a very lucky man to have found you and made himself yours.”
His words embraced my wounded heart, and acceptance behind them choked me. It took a moment to speak. “It is I who is lucky to have been found by your son and have become his.”
Valyn reached over, cupping my cheek with his gloved hand. “And Eleona and I are even more lucky to have you as our daughter-in-law.”
OMG WAIT ALSO SEEING THAT WILLA COLYNS IS REAL AHAHAHA ONE OF THE BEST SCENES EVER. I had a feeling she was the Seer in the first book who told Poppy to go to that room Cas was in at the Red Pearl. Miss Willa, you are amazing ❤
Also, Reaver I love you already. Burn them all to the ground muahahahaha
🛑SPOILERS HAVE ENDED🛑

I already know that I missed a lot of other things that happened but omg this review will never end if I continue. Literally still can’t get over the ending. Which fool thought it was smart to finish this book in one day??? And now to wait until 2022 for book 4??? Thank god ASITE is coming out this year. Nyktos and his consort sdfgdsfsfs I’m so excited. I can’t wait to meet Sera ahhhh!! And see more draken ehehe and see Nyktos, the scary god, fall in lovee.
I must say though, as much as I love these books I’m wondering how JLA will write 3 more books in this series?? It honestly feels like this series only needs one more book but I’m sure she has something planned👀
2022 will be the ⚔️War of Two Queens⚔️ and I am ready to see a certain queen wreak havoc * cackles *
