Emilia will be tested in every way as she seeks a series of magical objects that will unlock the clues of her past and the answers she craves…

One sister.
Two sinful princes.
Infinite deception with a side of revenge… Welcome to Hell.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author of Stalking Jack the Ripper Kerri Maniscalco comes the sizzling, sweepingly romantic sequel to Kingdom of the Wicked!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was definitely a character driven book and I was here for it all the way.

^^ basically Emilia in KotC cackles

“Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.”

After the betrayals and shocking revelations in Kingdom of the Wicked, Emilia is even more determined to find her sister’s murderer—no matter what bargains she must make… even if it means doing the forbidden.

With all of that, she must also deal with her conflicted feelings towards a certain hot demon prince. Is it lust? More lies? Or something more? Either way, Emilia must not fall for his charms and demonic influence.

But I mean, who can resist a demon prince??? certainly not me

“I may have been foolish before, but, thank the goddess, I was learning quickly.”

Okay but like Emilia was such a queen in this book. I loved her already in KotW BUT HERE??? Her character development was spectacular sdfgdfs my love literally went📈📈 She’s not as naïve as she was in the 1st book and now is soo cunning with her schemes, it makes me cackle in delight.

And after that ending??? No words will ever be able to express how hyped I am to see certain events play out. Emilia is on a very intriguing path and I definitely can’t say I don’t love it. For so long, Emilia’s been struggling with doing what’s right and avenging her sister—doing all of that alone. With demons everywhere. In Hell.

I don’t know how this girl’s able to deal with all of that and not lose her mind. Emilia needs a hug🥺

“Every villain thinks themselves the hero. And vice versa. In truth, there’s a little villain and hero in each of us. Depending on the circumstances.”

Oh Wrath, how my love grew for you but also declined. There were so many precious and wholesome moments between Wrath and Emilia omg it made me swoooon. And then Emilia has the audacity to say she wishes her “real life” was a romance novel- pain That hit hard😭

Like Wrath taking care of Emilia when she was suffering from hypothermia?? Wrath feeding Emilia chocolate-covered berries?? I’M JEALOUS.

But unfortunately, I do have to say that Wrath disgusted me at one point in the novel iykyk and though he learned from those mistakes and went to great extent to redeem himself—apologizing and following without question orders given by Emilia, I don’t 100% forgive him. It’ll probably take awhile tbh, but hopefully the 3rd book will clear up all of that for me.

“Fate may deal its hand, try encouraging our path or intervene, but we are ultimately free to choose our own destiny. Never doubt that.”

The new characters interactions that were in this book!! I absolutely adored it. Anir and Emilia’s friendship was so sweet ugh I love them so much. The training and conversations they had together were amazingg, but Fauna and Emilia’s conversations were definitely god tier – omg the things they said wheeze

The best interactions though were the ones between Emilia and the other Princes of Hell. I wish we could’ve learned and seen more of them :(( Like for a book set in Hell, they barely made much appearances and the three that we did get to see… were pretty brief, so that was a little disappointing.

Pride intrigues me so much, there’s definitely more to him than meets the eye. The same goes for Envy and maybe even Gluttony sdfsfsgfs I really want to know their true motives like they’re such interesting characters ughh the questions I have are killing me. Even with these princes not appearing as much as I hoped, AT LEAST I GOT TO SEE A DRUNK ENVY. Now that is something I’ll never forget anytime soon.

Anyways next book – petition for more Princes of Hell.

“All legends contain fragments of truth.”

I’m proud to say that I guessed one of the major plot twists yes ik practically everyone guessed it too but shhh let me savor this !! THE OTHER PLOT TWIST THOUGH??? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. AND THEN KERRI ENDING IT THAT WAY??? That is so cruel sobbing I flipped the page expecting there to be another page and then see “Acknowledgements” staring back at me-

We thought the ending of KotW was cruel?? laughs She definitely showed us what “cruel” really is. I’m in pain knowing that we have an agonizing year ahead of us to see how this concludes.

I wish I could’ve given this 5 stars – especially with how excited I was for KotC – but I can’t deny that I didn’t love it as much as I did with KotW. And like I’m always a sucker for romance, which is exactly what this had more of than the 1st book yet I still love KotW more. I’m thinking it might be the mood I’m currently in, but this just didn’t give me the same feelings I got with the first book. Of course, I definitely still enjoyed this and am so ready for the next book!

Anyways, let the suffering begin😃✌

All These Bodies by Kendare Blake | ARC Review

Sixteen bloodless bodies. Two teenagers. One impossible explanation.

Summer 1958—a string of murders plagues the Midwest. The victims are found in their cars and in their homes—even in their beds—their bodies drained, but with no blood anywhere.

September 19- the Carlson family is slaughtered in their Minnesota farmhouse, and the case gets its first lead: 15-year-old Marie Catherine Hale is found at the scene. She is covered in blood from head to toe, and at first she’s mistaken for a survivor. But not a drop of the blood is hers.

Michael Jensen, son of the local sheriff, yearns to become a journalist and escape his small-town. He never imagined that the biggest story in the country would fall into his lap, or that he would be pulled into the investigation, when Marie decides that he is the only one she will confess to.

As Marie recounts her version of the story, it falls to Michael to find the truth: What really happened the night that the Carlsons were killed? And how did one girl wind up in the middle of all these bodies?

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I am officially spooked™

“All these bodies without blood.”

Our narrator is a 17-year old future journalist named Michael who recounts his view of The Bloodless Murders case. The one person at the scene of the crime declares that they’ll only tell their story to him and him only — for some unknown reason.

These murders have been terrorizing the whole country and now the case of the century is at the hands of Michael. He just needs to prove that Marie – the suspect – was only the accomplice and the true murderer is still out there. Easy.

Except… sometimes the facts aren’t as easy as they’re made it out to be and Michael soon discovers that.

“Tell the truth and shame the devil. I always thought that would be easy. But what do you do when the truth that you’re faced with also happens to be impossible?”

Michael as a narrator was… interesting to say the least. I’m impressed at how he was able to separate his emotions from the horrors he saw at times like wow I could never.

But also sometimes he could be such an idiot like if someone was literally pointing a gun at you and about to shoot you — when you manage to get away the first thing you do is tell the cops/parents right??? MICHAEL DIDNT DO THAT🤡 and its not like he was threatened or anything by them, he just decided not to tell anyone?? * sigh *

That was probably the only really stupid decision there well that and him wanting to break a murderer out of prison

I must admit that one thing I did find done well was the murder mystery being pretty spooky and interesting — but at the same time, it was also kind of boring?? I don’t know if that makes sense but that’s how I felt. It was really easy to guess who the culprit was and this is coming from someone who sucks at guessing that.

And the ending to it all was really underwhelming to be honest. That ending didn’t reveal everything clearly and actually left me with more questions than answers.

Anyways overall this was pretty decent. I’ve read way better mysteries but this wasn’t bad.

Many thanks Harper Collins Canada for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

❂ October TBR ❂

Happy October, my fellow bookworms!!🎃

I know I disappeared for the millionth time but oh wow how I didn’t expect school to be so hectic the first month😔 September was just me focusing so much of my time on school and when I did have free time, I’d watch anime and read mangas. Oh but how I miss reading books.

I’m still in my slump which is nothing new😭 but THIS MONTH I WILL FORCE MYSELF OUT OF THIS 3 MONTH LONG SLUMP IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO😤

So I’m going with a very ambitious TBR hehe

The Bronzed Beasts – Ever since the ending of The Silvered Serpents, I’VE NEEDED THIS BOOK LIKE I NEED AIR. I’m so scared, I need my babies to be okay and happy😭 Let’s see if I remain unscathed by the end of this book. And I’m gonna be buddy reading this so we’ll suffer together xoxo <33

Kingdom of the Cursed – This has been one of my highly anticipated reads ever since this was announced to be in drafting (aka even before Kingdom of the Wicked came out). IM SO HYPED TO READ THIS. and maybe, just maybe… this will be the book to save me from this cursed slump

Starsight – The 3rd book, Cytonic, is coming out next month so you better believe that I’m reading this before that. Everyone I now keeps talking about the ending of Starsight and I’m terrified😭 but at least I’ll only have to wait a month rather than 2 years like so many others did😂

Elantris – Another Sanderson book I must read. I started it back in August but because I was in a slump and didn’t want that to ruin the experience of this (because the book’s like really interesting), so I took a break. Now it’s time to read this once again😌

All These Bodies – I originally didn’t plan on reading this but I got a physical ARC as a surprise so now I definitely have to😂 It looks so creepy and I do enjoy mysteries so I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Dark Rise – Another physical ARC I got AND I’M SO HAPPY BECAUSE I’VE BEEN SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK. Like the main character is named Will and the love interest is James??? And it’s set in London, England?? I’m getting TID vibes and I’m sooo hyped.

When Night Breaks – Another book I’m really hoping won’t disappoint!! I got an eARC of Where Dreams Descends and absolutely adored the book. The cliffhanger was too cruel sdfdsfsgs I really need answers. Also Jack better get a happy ending.

A Shadow in the Ember – My feelings are conflicted on this one… I used to be super excited for this but these last few months my excitement died down and I’ve grown to dislike the author, especially after certain events a few months ago. I have no idea what to feel, but JLA is definitely no longer a favourite author of mine.

The Hawthorne Legacy – I saw so many mixed reviews for THL and now I’m worried😭 I loved The Inheritance Games, so if I don’t enjoy this, it’ll be so heartbreaking * scared * but other than that worry I NEED MY HAWTHORNE BROTHERS.

I can’t believe its come to the point where I find reading 9 books in a month a lot💀 I miss my old self who could read so much haha * cry *

Anyways, I’m going to kick this reading slump out of my life and hopefully love every one of these books😎
