🏹February 2021 ~ TBR🏹

Happy February!!!

I’m so so so excited for this month. SO many new releases, buddy reads with some amazing people and of course, it’s the month of ~love~

Already this month has gone off to a great start. I’ve already finished two books ahhh hopefully it continues that way <33

Here’s what I’ve planned:

Can you hear me screaming??? I was so so lucky to get a physical ARC of one of my 2021 most anticipated reads at the end of January!! I still can’t believe it😭 I’ve already finished reading it and ohmygod guys you are not ready for what Cassie’s planned. and i just found out that Chain of Thorns is BEING PUSHED BACK SDFGDSDF WHY IS THE WORLD SO CRUEL

more info on that here * sobs *

Me and Alex @ The Scribe Owl are doing a buddy read for our ARCS of Hot British Boyfriend. It’s been a lot of fun ahhh so happy to have done it with her!!

Yes, I’m finally getting back to my buddy read pals’ TOG Marathon. We’re re-reading and ohmygod ALL THE FORESHADOWING IM NOTICING. * shook *

I know, I’m FINALLY reading thisπŸ˜‚ I’m doing a huge buddy read with others except I’m very, very behind and by that — I mean, I haven’t even startedπŸ’€ I realize I have way too many buddy reads going on at the same time, but I’m going to definitely start in a few days!!

We’re all ready for the tv show.😎

This is another buddy read I’m planning on doing with both Katie @ Whispering Pages and Alex @ The Scribe Owl. Super excited for this, especially since we’re all doing blog tours and it’s for fans of The Ember in the Ashes series. Hopefully we won’t be let down🀞

Of course, I’m totally hoping to finish TPW series and read The Burning God. oh god, how I actually fear for my life. Everyone who has read the series hasn’t come out the same.

I’m too young to die :’ )

Last but not least, I couldn’t not plan on reading this in February — my second most anticipated read this year, A Court of Silver Flames. Although the cover’s colours are…questionable, I so can’t wait to read about Nesta and Cassian’s story!!

Queen SJM blessing us again.πŸ”₯

I’m definitely hoping to read more than this sdfdsfgdfds I can already tell my heart’s going to break even more this month with some of these books…ahhh how fun pain is.🀑

Also, I know I’ve been posting less than usual — know that it’s because of school ughh the new quad has just started and already my teacher’s are torturing with so many assignments * sobs * don’t they understand that I want to read?? smh these monsters.

So if you see drop off the face of earth know that it’s because of school or I got lazy

🏹January 2021 ~ TBR🏹

Ahhh it already feels like the year is passing by fast! Not complaining of course, especially because now there are only 5 more months left of school!!!😭πŸ₯³

January actually wasn’t a bad month. Compared to others months I definitely didn’t have as much 5 stars, but I did find a new all-time-favourite ahhhh The Dragon Republic was seriously just amazing and I’m so much in love with Kuang’s world and characters.πŸ₯Ί

I also, surprisingly, got some ARCs in although unfortunately none of them were favouritesπŸ˜… (altho there is one, but technically i started in January and finished it in February so that doesn’t count lol)

And then there were some novellas that I read that were just heartbreakingly beautiful ughh just thinking about them now makes me want to burst into tears.

Here’s everything I read~

That’s 9 books I read, with an average rating of 3.94 ayyy I’m actually happy about that — I feel like I’ve been giving 5 stars too easily, so one of my goals in 2021, is to be a little stricter with my ratings. 5 stars should be reserved for the true masterpieces, although I can’t help if nostalgia gets in the wayπŸ˜†

All in all this wasn’t a bad month, although in terms of blogging I’d say that it was ahaha I missed some days and have felt a little overwhelmed in posting/not in the mood, but I’m sure February will be better!

I believe it’s school making me feel like this.πŸ˜‚

Love in English by Maria E. Andreu | ARC Review

Sixteen-year-old Ana has just moved to New Jersey from Argentina for her Junior year of high school. She’s a poet and a lover of languageβ€”except that now, she can barely understand what’s going on around her, let alone find the words to express how she feels in the language she’s expected to speak.

All Ana wants to do is go homeβ€”until she meets Harrison, the very cute, very American boy in her math class. And then there’s her new friend Neo, the Greek boy she’s partnered up with in ESL class, who she bonds with over the 80s teen movies they are assigned to watch for class (but later keep watching together for fun), and Altagracia, her artistic and Instagram-fabulous friend, who thankfully is fluent in Spanish and able to help her settle into American high school.

But is it possible that she’s becoming too Americanβ€”as her father accusesβ€”and what does it mean when her feelings for Harrison and Neo start to change? Ana will spend her year learning that the rules of English may be confounding, but there are no rules when it comes to love.

With playful and poetic breakouts exploring the idiosyncrasies of the English language, Love in English tells a story that is simultaneously charming and romantic, while articulating a deeper story about what it means to become β€œAmerican.”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Huh. I never thought English could be so complicated in the eyes of others.

Maybe I shouldn’t make fun of my mom for her EnglishπŸ˜‚ who am i kidding? it’s hilarious

This book really did a good job in showing how much people struggle moving to a new country and being forced to learn a new language in order to try blending in.

Ana is a 16 year old high schooler whose just moved from Argentina to New Jersey, U.S. which is the result of her father who she hasn’t seen in 3 years. Considering she’s been speaking Spanish her whole life and has only started learning English for a few years, she of course isn’t used to it, so Ana is put into ESL.

From there she’s able to connect/relate more to the others because they also are in the same situation she’s in and so she meets Neo, a boy from Greece. Of course they bond well together. But then she also meets Harrison, ~le americane boy~, and instantly has a crush on him…can you see where I’m going?

aye, it’s the horrid love triangle.

But the good thing is that it didn’t really play a huge part in the story, or maybe it didn’t feel like that to me, since this was short anyways. It was mostly just Ana trying to understand whether she was in love or not and what really is love.

I could tell that the author was putting in her own experiences into this book and I liked how she did it. I would say I can’t imagine how humiliating it is to not understand what others are saying while they laugh at you, but ahahahaha it’s happened a few times *war flashbacks* cant say i didn’t deserve it tho lol

In the end I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either, hence the rating of 3 stars. I couldn’t really care much for the characters but that’s probably just me. I think for those who can really relate Ana, they’d love her and her growth throughout the novel.

A Vow So Bold and Deadly (Cursebreakers, #3) by Brigid Kemmerer | Review

Face your fears, fight the battle.
Emberfall is crumbling fast, torn between those who believe Rhen is the rightful prince and those who are eager to begin a new era under Grey, the true heir. Grey has agreed to wait two months before attacking Emberfall, and in that time, Rhen has turned away from everyoneβ€”even Harper, as she desperately tries to help him find a path to peace.

Fight the battle, save the kingdom.
Meanwhile, Lia Mara struggles to rule Syhl Shallow with a gentler hand than her mother. But after enjoying decades of peace once magic was driven out of their lands, some of her subjects are angry Lia Mara has an enchanted prince and magical scraver by her side. As Grey’s deadline draws nearer, Lia Mara questions if she can be the queen her country needs.

As two kingdoms come closer to conflict, loyalties are tested, love is threatened, and an old enemy resurfaces who could destroy them all, in this stunning conclusion to bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer’s Cursebreaker series.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

wait, wait WHAT-

that cannot be the end. I-

I don’t know how to feel.

that moment when the ending prevents a book from being a 5 stars *sadness*

I’ll start off with thisβ€”RHEN. DESERVED. MORE.

I refuse to believe that this is the end of the Cursebreakers world. There literally has to be more because that ending did not resolve everything and if I’m being honest, I’d say the only people who truly got their happy ending are Grey and Lia Mara…and I could care less about them (I know, ✨unpopular opinion✨).

Not saying that Rhen and Harper didn’t get their HEA but like there’s still so many questions I have for them AND IT ENDED WITHOUT ASDFBGGDSAMNMBSBDAJSSDNAM IM ANGRY. I WANTED A DIFFERENT OUTCOME FOR RHEN *sobs*

That’s probably just me and my unhealthy obsession with Rhen though. If I looked at this in a more critical POV, Brigid really did end this series in a realistic way, where not everything is fixed and everyone’s happy.

ughhh still doesn’t mean I have to like it. Rhen deserved more and I will forever keep saying that until he gets it. meanwhile I’ll be waiting for when she releases info on a spin off or something

(πŸ›‘There shall be SPOILERS from the previous books…you have been warnedπŸ›‘)

“Yield to yourself. Yield to forgiveness. Yield to happiness. Yield to this moment. It’s not hers. It’s yours. It’s mine.”

“It’s ours.”

Tell me that isn’t just one of the sweetest speeches in history? And that scene–ohmygod I wanted to burst into tears who am i kidding? i totally did

From book 1, Rhen and Harper have had my heart and that will never change. They both made terrible mistakes, but what matters more is that they learned and changed for the better.Especially Rhen.

I know many despised Rhen ofc i didnt after whipping both Grey and our little cinnamon roll, Tycho in A Heart So Fierce and Brokenβ€”and what he did was definitely unforgiveable, even after learning that Lilith was behind making him do that.

I’m not making excuses for his actions, but I believe you have to look at it a bit differently and see it from the other side of the story. We didn’t get Rhen’s POV in AHSFAB so we wouldn’t know, but here…we see how much it pained him to do that to his brother and best friend, but in the end, Rhen would’ve done it all over again if it meant Harper was safe from Lilith.

And I respect that.πŸ₯Ί That’s true love right there even if it did harm others in the process.

So yes, I absolutely loved how many scenes we got with Harper and Rhen as you could tell from my status updates asdfghjhfgdsaf my heart is so happy thinking about them even now.

Also, where Harper might’ve looked all docile and unlike her usual self in AHSFAB, she definitely wasn’t like that here. It was the Harper we all know and love who didn’t let Rhen get away with *ahem* certain actions and I lived for those moments.

I’m gonna keep rereading that scene until I die. It was amazing.πŸ˜πŸ’–

If my people must see strength, then we need to show them ours.

Lia Mara definitely grew a lot from the previous book. She still longs for peace between nations and all people, and although she has so many come at her for being too kind, too fair, and too just — which leads to being ‘weak’, Lia Mara doesn’t let that change her ways and continues acting as the queen she wants to be for her people.

Strength is shown in many ways, and Lia Mara truly showed that to be possible.

And then there’s Grey. As someone who started off being a royal guard and now this…truly a huge leap from the first book.

He’s become much more confident in himself and a great leader to those around him (tho that’s not really surprising…he’s Grey). No longer does he always follow orders given from others, but he gives the orders.

But one thing that hasn’t changed is that he’s still ~Scary Grey~ and the big softie we fell in love with.πŸ₯Ί

Too bad I couldn’t care much about his and Lia Mara’s POVs though. I feel like AVSBAD was really for Rhen & Harper and I’M 100% OKAY WITH THAT.πŸ₯°

Every time I got to their POVs, my heart would do a happy dance and whenever I was not reading from their POVs, I’d literally skip ahead to see how many more pages were left until I got to be back in Harper/Rhen’s POV (yes, I know I’m sad).

Living for their scenes is what I do✌

I swear to god, I was seriously going to give this 5 stars and move it on my all-time-fav shelf bUT THAT ENDING-

aghhh I despise that ending with every fibre of my being. Why, brigid, why? But I still love this series so much and for that, I shall continue praying there’s a spin-off.

Actually, I bet there is going to be a spin-off — and if I’m right, let it be known that I am a wickedly, brilliant fortune teller.and if I’m wrong…well ripπŸ’”

Oh Grey, Lia Mara, Rhen, and Harper…I’d say goodbye, but I don’t believe this is the last we’ll see each other. If it is altho i wont allow that, then my final words are:

And down with Syhl Shallow.πŸ™‚

This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria | ARC Review

Orphaned and forced to serve her country’s ruling group of scribes, Karis wants nothing more than to find her brother, long ago shipped away. But family bonds don’t matter to the Scriptorium, whose sole focus is unlocking the magic of an ancient automaton army.

In her search for her brother, Karis does the seemingly impossibleβ€”she awakens a hidden automaton. Intelligent, with a conscience of his own, Alix has no idea why he was made. Or why his fatherβ€”their nation’s greatest traitorβ€”once tried to destroy the automatons.

Suddenly, the Scriptorium isn’t just trying to control Karis; it’s hunting her. Together with Alix, Karis must find her brother…and the secret that’s held her country in its power for centuries.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Ahhhh I never thought I’d live to see the day when everyone around the MC gets a love interest except for the MC herself.

Beautiful. wish i could say the same abt the bookπŸ’€

But that’s just me. I’m sure anyone who’s okay with characters that don’t kill their enemies, will love this. this is what happens when you’ve just read the poppy war

Although, I must say it’s unrealistic that you go through a WHOLE book dealing with basically a war between team good and team evil and NOT ONE PERSON ON EITHER SIDE IS KILLED. nO CASUALTIES. AT ALL.

That’s totally realistic. Yup, totally.

But again, this might just be me because of how used to I am with death in YA novels but I don’t know…you’d think some of them would’ve died. AT LEAST THE VILLAINS. WHY NOT THE VILLAINS??? ohmygod I cannot with this book-

Which brings me to another pointβ€”the villain. My dudes, I don’t know how anyone would be afraid of this “Magistrate” when he’s as bland as a piece of cardboard. Where’s the personality?? Where’s the evil actions he does?? There was more telling than actually showing.

The characters would basically just talk about how much of a monster he is and how anyone who goes into “The Magistrate’s Library” (yea I know, very terrifying) didn’t come back out normal because the Magistrate was cruel to them. Yes…but what exactly did he do? There were no details — just “oH he’s SO EVIL. thAT MONSTER. hoW COULD thAT mAN do thAT to my brOTHER” etc etc.

Tell me,Β what’s the point of a villain if he’s doesn’t even drop a hint of dread in the reader?

(now THIS is what I call frightening)

I know I probably sound very salty, but it’s just very frustrating. I felt NOTHING at all for the characters. Nothing They’re all basic.

Ahahaha the plot too — Karis is looking for her brother after being separated from him years ago. Then one day she discovers an automaton, Alix, that can speak and act of its own will, which of course, is surprising considering automatons haven’t been working for hundreds of years, and even before, automatons were always controlled by human beings. He’s ~speshul~

Anyways, she uses him to escape from the Scriptorium, the place she was held prisoner-but-also-not-prisoner (if that even makes sense) as a slave (tho she did have some freedom in learning things) and from there things escalate and eventually turns into what? Yup, a rebellion against the Magistrate and those who’ve been making them suffer for so long.

It goes on, and on…and honestly? I’m kind of tired of the basic rebellion plots, with it’s basic heroes, basic villains, basic everything. It’s been used way too much and at this point, I think most of us can agree that we’re tired of it. Or at least it could be used and have some ✨creativity✨.

How would you make it creative? I have no idea.

I’m sorry. I’m making this out to be worse than it actually is, but there were actually some parts that I liked.

For one thing, as I mentioned in the first line of my review — the main character, Karis, is asexual, which I’ve never seen in a YA Fantasy book before so that was awesome.

Between Alix & Karis and Dane & Karis, it was just platonic love and that is just so beautiful. We don’t get enough of that in fantasy novels for the main character and that is not okay. I’m totally a sucker for romance, but this change was nice and I loved it.

Also, it was really cool seeing through Alix’s POV. The only POVs I’ve ever read from are through humans, so to see through an automaton’s for the first time mind-blown

Though I wouldn’t say there’s much of a difference between Karis and his. I’d sometimes have to go back because I’d forget whose POV I was reading from since they were kind of similar.

So yeah, other than nobody dying at all during a full-out battle, the bland characters, and basic plot…this was an alright book I guess.

I definitely recommend this to those who like all the things I pointed out that I didn’t like, or if you’re simply looking for a book that’s very diverse!

This just wasn’t for me, and I am sad :((

The Iron Raven (The Iron Fey: Evenfall, #1) by Julie Kagawa | ARC Review

Eternally grateful to Inkyard Press for sending me an ARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. All quotes in this review are subject to change upon release date.

You may have heard of me…

Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Prankster, joker, raven, fool… King Oberon’s right-hand jester from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The legends are many, but the truth will now be known as never before, as Puck finally tells his own story and faces a threat to the lands of Faery and the human world unlike any before.

With the Iron Queen Meghan Chase and her prince consort, Puck’s longtime rival Ash, and allies old and new by his side, Puck begins a fantastical and dangerous adventure not to be missed or forgotten.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Wait, hold up. Wrong story.”

3 stars for the actual story and that extra star is for all the Ash scenes I was blessed withπŸ₯Ί

yes, I know this is Puck’s book but…there was also Ash swoooon

First thing’s first — The Iron Raven is a spin-off of the The Iron Fey series, so while you don’t necessarily have to read that before this, I highly recommend it!!

There’s a recap of all that’s happened in the other two series, so that’ll mean spoilers…and I mean, you’d be missing out on meeting the Ash, aka the love of my life. fangirling

BUT anyways, this isn’t about Ash so I’ll stop now.

Puck finally got his story and I have to say…I’m a bit conflicted on how it turned out to be.

β•β•β•β•β˜©β•β•βœ β•β•β˜©β•β•β•β•

“The Nevernever could be crumbling under our feet, and you’d make a joke about it.”

Robin Goodfellow–our very own Puck, has always been dismissed as the ridiculous fool who takes nothing seriously and his very own name instills fear into others because of the chaos he wreaks.

Basically, he’s bad news.

But we love that about him. at least most of the world does I’ve always been a #TeamAsh, but Puck is still one of my favourites. And wow, reading from his POV and seeing all his thoughts…I have to say that it gets dark .

Puck always seemed to be cheerful & uncaring about a lot, but damnn he’s totally different on the inside and it showed. The amount of times I wanted to cry over Puck’s pain :(((

And I loved that we got to learn wayyyy more about Puck’s past. Like A LOT more and how he used to be centuries ago. Really makes you understand him so much more <333

β•β•β•β•β˜©β•β•βœ β•β•β˜©β•β•β•β•

“Generally, I find a dagger is a much better alternative to stopping someone’s heart than a surprise party.

There’s far less of a chance they’ll stab you back.”

Yes, she sounds very concerning but I adore that. Nyx is supposedly Puck’s new love interest and she’s super cool. Puck himself called her an Ash 2.0 and I CAN SEE THAT.πŸ˜‚

The way I want to talk more about her, but I think it’s much better if you see for yourself.😏 I’ll just say that she’s very very skilled assassin and Julie made many references to Sailor Moon that related to Nyx.

But as much as I did like her, I found the romance between Puck and her a little lacking :/
Although, it’s probably just a me thing, but I literally shrieked and had a goofy smile on my face every time I saw a MeghanxAsh scene.

I was living for those moments.

Ash started to say something, and she glared at him. “Unless I don’t get any rest from the constant hovering of an overprotective Winter faery who is worried that I’m not getting enough rest.”

Ash slumped in defeat. “Fine,” I heard him say. “As you wish, my queen. But if you pass out or fall asleep during the fight with the big monster, I get to be ‘unbearably overprotective’ for the next month.”

Lowering her arms, Meghan swayed on her feet, then collapsed into Ash’s arms.

I wish I could fall into Ash’s arms 😦
yes, clearly something is wrong with me, i know

But you can’t have an Iron Fey book without our ✨favourite✨ cait sith– Grimalkin. He was as ‘helpful’ as always and the star of the show other than Ash ofc. His “Because I am a cat” responses were as infuriating hilarious as always. You could give me a whole series on Grimalkin and I’ll read it.😹

wait, that’s actually a really good idea…if Julie did that, I’d die of happiness.

“We’ve learned a lot since then. When I first came through here with Ironhorse, I was younger, and much more…” She paused.

“Reckless?” Ash said quietly beside her.

“Impulsive,” Grimalkin added up front without turning around.

“Prone to shrieking?” I put in, not about to be left out.

The Iron Queen glared at us all. “All those things, I suppose,” she said in a flat voice that hinted at retribution later on.

That moment when they all gang up on MeghanπŸ˜‚ They’re not wrong tho

Now the reason why I thought of this story as deserving a 3 star is because it kinda felt like it was lacking the same magic that I felt the original series had. There’s definitely been lots of improvement in terms of writing, although I’ve always loved Julie’s writing.

There was also (and might just be me) the amount of times I saw “smirk” being used AND IT WAS SO ANNOYING. Like the characters can smirk and all, but when they’re smirking basically ever five pages, ahahahaha that’s just too much.

if the next book I read has a lot of ‘smirks’, I’m gonna throw it across the room and burn it

Ahhh this has successfully made me want to reread The Iron Fey series.

I’ve been apart from Ash for far too long.

11 days into the month and I’m finally posting my TBR for this month…oops.

Ahh I’m so happy that it’s 2021 and we’ve left 2021, although I must say….so far 2021 isn’t starting off on a good note with what occurred last week. I hope all of you in the U.S. are doing alright!!πŸ₯Ί I can’t imagine how horrifying it must be with recent events. Stay safe!!πŸ’•

Hopefully all of this will end, or at least get better after the 20thπŸ˜…

But anyways! Cheers to a better reading year! I’ve set my goal this year to 50 books, and it feels so good not to be stressed about how many books I have to read lolπŸ˜‚

Now here’s what I’m hoping to read this month (and have already read since this is a late TBR already):

I’ve already finished The Poppy War and wow I am amazed. I’m so very much in love with Rin, Kitay, and NezhaπŸ₯Ί AND THAT ENDING AHHH IM SO SCARED TO READ TDRπŸ˜“

And then there’s The Iron Raven which Edelweiss was kind enough to accept my request😭 The Iron Fey was one of my first YA Fantasy books AND FOR PUCK TO FINALLY GET HIS OWN SERIES AFTER 11 YEARS??? HELL YES.

This Golden Flame is another ARC I received and ahhhh I hadn’t heard of it that much before, but it has a main character who is aromantic and that’s all I need to hear😍 I’ve never before seen a book with an ace rep, so I’m soooo excited!!

Now for The Ten Thousand Doors of January…I’d love to say that I have a more cooler and important reason for reading this but I dont. I didn’t even read the synopsisπŸ˜‚ I saw “January” AND KNEW I had to read this in January hehe.

Don’t ask my why I plan on rereading A Curse So Dark and Lonely but not A Heart So Fierce and Broken (2nd book). It’s just been so long since I read the first book and…UNPOPULAR OPINION BUT — I love Rhen more than Grey. The 2nd book did not have Rhen’s POV, and I was sadπŸ˜₯. I actually don’t like Lia Mara and Grey as much as Harper and Rhen.

And A Vow So Bold and Deadly is coming out this month AHHHH I’M SO SCARED. PLEASE, BRIGID, DONT HURT MY RHEN. LET THEM ALL BE HAPPY. I know this book is gonna make me cry and I’m not ready.πŸ₯Ί

I’m going to need all the emotional support I can get. and a bucket of ice cream

So yeah…it looks I’m in for a lot of pain again. With both The Dragon Republic and A Vow So Bold and Deadly, especially. Ahahaha wish me luck.🀑

December 2020 ~ Wrap Up

Ahahaha yes I’m finally posting my very late December 2020 TBR, when it’s clearly 2021. After months of my freak outs, I bet you’re all wondering if I ever finished my reading challenge, eh? unless you saw on goodreads

Bokuto’s so proud of meπŸ₯Ί

Anndddd I’m never doing that again. I don’t know how people can read 250+ books, the most I’ve ever read was 161 in 2019 and I don’t think I’ll ever beat that.πŸ˜†

However, in the end I had to read many novellas to complete, because I mean reality is, that I could never read 18 normal books oh no no that’s impossible for me xD.

Now this will probably be a pretty long list so let’s get to it!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was just beautiful. It broke me completely. My biggest regret is reading this after I’ve already finished the series ahhhh stupid me smh😭. Sam * sobs *

Hehe I was able to count the 5 novellas plus this book as a whole to my reading challenge😈

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Although Jace and Clary aren’t my biggest fans, this was pretty cute! The collection of short stories were good, though some of them made me cringe too xD. I’m hoping that Cassie does something like this with Will & Tessa or Julian & Emma…now THAT would be amazing!πŸ˜πŸ’–

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This reread was beautiful and honestly the foreshadowing is just amazing. Sarah, you are literally a genius, like how did I not see so much??? My massive buddy read pals weren’t able to read CoM, but we definitely will in January and ahhh I already know I’m gonna cry😭

Rating: 4 out of 5.

CARDAN CARDAN CARDAN. Ahhh I said I’d read it before 2020 ended and I did😎 totally didnt also read it for my challenge I think we can all agree when I say that we need more JURDAN. I will never stop begging for that hehe.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Ahaha honestly this was really just not for meπŸ™ˆ I feel bad for giving this such a low rating for a debut author but ahhh I just couldn’t.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Literally all I need to say is Adrian Ivashkov, the love of my life. I do think that the guy in cover doesn’t do him justice, but I totally imagine Sydney like that.

But this book…EVERYONE YOU MUST READ THIS i mean i’ve read this 3 times so that must say something, especially if you loved Vampire Academy!

Omg this parody…I have to say that I have conflicted feelings on this hence the reason why I’ve yet to rate/review this. On one hand it was sometimes funny, but then it was also pretty * ahem * disturbing. I’ll get to reviewing it…one day xD

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I’m sure you’ve heard enough gushing from me for one day BUT GUYSS THIS BOOK!!! Ahhh I need book 2 ASAP, and just saying…this may or may not be a book for a certain book box heheπŸ˜‰

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I loved being able to relate with Eliza! Us introverts stick together!😎 Still not over that ending thoughπŸ’€

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Totally wasn’t desperate to finish my reading challenge ahaha but like wow if possible I want These Violent Delights #2 even more! This Christmas special just broke my heart. Roma and JulietteπŸ₯Ί

Rating: 4 out of 5.

ANOTHER STORY THAT MADE ME CRY. Aghh I barely remember anything from The Darkest Minds, so I think I’m gonna be doing a reread in 2021. Oh, my sweet boy Liam.😭

Rating: 5 out of 5.

That’s all there is to it. Oh and that ending…yea I can’t just stop my reread here after that. Especially since the 3rd book is my favouriteee😍

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

You knowβ€”I’m not going to even😭😭😭 It’s clear I was trying to torture myself in December with all these painful books. AND THIS ONE WAS NO DIFFERENT. I’m going to dieee waiting for book 3. SEND HELP.πŸ₯ΊπŸ’”

If I had to summarize December 2020 in one word, it’d be P A I N.

It was obvious that I didn’t suffer enough in 2020, so these books just HAD TO BREAK ME EVEN MORE.

So lesson of the year is to NEVER AGAIN set a goal like this because reality is that I’m gonna get older and even more busy, so I doubt I’ll be able to read like this again.πŸ˜† But other than rushing to finish my reading challenge, this month was AMAZING!!

For one thing, I actually made it onto the Best Reviewers List GLOBALLY ON GOODREADS AHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN I SAW IT. Was crying tears of joy when I saw thatβ€”never did I think I’d make it on there😭😭 I’m so thankful to all those who actually read my reviewsπŸ₯ΊπŸ’–

And then there’s me being able to actually schedule some of my blog posts and not rush through themπŸ˜‚ But now that school’s started again ahahahhaaπŸ’€

Lastly, I was able to meet so many more new friends on here AND Goodreads ahhhh I’m so happy. It’s come to the point where I talk to all of you more than my real life friends wow that doesnt make me sound anti-social to the outside world at all

🏹November 2020 ~ TBR🏹

Ahahhaaa this is quite late compared to when I usually post, but unfortunately, yesterday night my internet decided to betray me and stop working, sooo here I am now! Better late then never I suppose.

Also, do any of you guys find Goodreads a HUGE distraction when you’re (trying) studying, or is it just me?!?! Every time I look at my notes/do practice questions, I always end up finding myself scrolling through Goodreads and then when I look at the time HOURS have passed!!!😬

Not good……not good at all. I don’t know how to make myself stop though.πŸ˜…

Anyways, I think I might be able to read more this month than last month….? I mean, after November 11th, it’ll be a new semester, so maybe (depending on what classes I get altho knowing my luck I’ll get the worst matchup) I won’t get as much work…..?

Ahhh I really hope next semester won’t be as busy especially since I STILL NEED TO READ 24 MORE BOOKS TO GET TO MY READING CHALLENGE!!! Past-Me was very stupid choosing a goal of 150, because now Present-Me has to suffer with.πŸ˜₯ It’s not too late though!

I shan’t change my goal until the very end.πŸ”₯

Now here’s what I’m hoping to read in November and maybe this time, I ‘ll actually read most of them haha.

I’ve decided to reread the first 2 books in the Origin series before I go to The Brightest Night which just recently came out. HA and remember when I talked about how much I hated the cover for it? (cuz I mean, it is pretty bad compared to the last two) Or maybe you don’t remember, but get thisβ€”I ended up buying the hardcover. Now why would I do that when I clearly didn’t like the cover change?

Well it was because when I found that ALL FIRST PRINTS were signed by the author (JLA HERSELF!!) Oh yeah I just had to buy it!!!! MY FIRST SIGNED BOOK BY JLA (and in general) ASDFGHJKL I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!😍😭🀧 I’m just so happy.πŸ₯Ί

Aghhhh so many new releases this month!!! A Deal With the Elf King by Elise Kova is definitely a book I can’t wait to read!!! I LOVE her Air Awakens series, so I have no doubt that I’ll love this too!😍 (and it’s also enemies to lovers soooo😏)

And I admit that I’ve only ever read one of Natalia Jaster’s books and that was Trick. Poet was def swoon-worthy and so I can’t wait to read her new series Kiss the Fae! I mean, it’s enemies-to-lovers with Fae involvedβ€”the perfect combo.πŸ‘Œβœ¨

Speaking of Fae……IT FEELS LIKE IT’S BEEN CENTURIES OF WAITING BUT FINALLY!!! CARDAN’S NOVELLA IS HEEREEEE😍😍😍 asdfghjkl I can’t wait to read from Cardan’s POV in How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories!!! I love Holly Black, and seeing this come to lifeβ€”I love her even more.πŸ₯Ί

Oop I think I’ve talked a little too much haha.πŸ˜† Well, I’m going to keep my TBR small this time, in case I end up not having enough time.

Although by my calculations altho it’s not really any calculations, if I want to finish my reading challenge I should probably read more than 6 books this month, otherwise I’ll be having to reading 18 books in December……..yeah that doesn’t sound easy unless I switch over to mangas/comics muahhahahaha😈

Ahhh the struggles of life.😌

🏹October 2020 ~ Wrap Up🏹

You know on one hand, time seems to be passing by super fast, but on the other…….

Aghhhh school really does get annoying the older you getβ€”and this stupid quadmester system is definitely not helping. The amount of times I’ve complained to my older sister ahahahhahaa……

Psssst don’t be surprised if you find my dead body in an abandoned alley Pretty sure I drove her crazyπŸ€ͺ

Oh yeah and then there’s my TBR for this month WHICH I TOTALLY FAILED at. Me reading only 7 books (+1 novella), hahahahhahaa. Although, I’d say taking about half the month to reread the Covenant Series by JLA is what made me decline my other books for October’s TBR. Ahh oh well.😁

So in the end, I only read two new books (wow, that really doesn’t sound good for my tbr). BUT those two new books were AMAZING!!!😍

And I know you’ve already heard enough from me about him, but seriouslyβ€”

Hehe okay I’ll stop now.πŸ™ˆπŸ’–

5 stars:

4 stars:

Hmmm okay, wow.πŸ˜‚ Now that I look back at this, I realize they literally were all five stars…….ahaha guess I’m super biased when it comes to JLA’s books.πŸ˜† Probably means I’m really easy to please, too hehe.

I just love her Covenant series so much, though.πŸ₯Ί Aiden & Alex are one of my top OTPs probably say that with almost every couple tho, so don’t completely trust me on that ha.

OH and don’t even get me started on Kingdom of the Wicked…..actually on second thought, maybe I shouldn’t start talking about it. You know how that’ll end.πŸ˜ˆπŸ˜†

My review says it all anyways

Ahhh but there’s also These Violent Delights (by Chloe Gong) and oml you guys are totally not ready for it. Or maybe you are. But like enemies-to-lovers, Romeo & Juliette retelling, a setting in Shanghai, and rival gangs ALL SMASHED INTO ONE BOOK.😍😍😍 My heartβ€”

How amazing is that?!?! It hasn’t even come out yet it’s been nominated already.🀯 Although, it’s really hard to choose this year…..so many good books.😭😭😭 I can’t just choose ONE?!?!

Now unfortunately, finals are next week, so if you find my dead body in another abandoned alley………you know what happened yes, I’m being overdramatic. no I can’t stopπŸ’€

Well, that’s enough of me.😎
